The Medicare Diabetes Screening Project welcomes the support of individuals and organizations that can help us increase awareness that Medicare offers a benefit for free screening for diabetes to those ages 65 and older.
Who’s Already Involved?
Here are some examples of the types of individuals and organizations that are engaged in promoting MDSP messages:
- Directors and other staff members of community-based organizations that serve the interests and needs of seniors (such as local Area Agencies on Aging and centers affiliated with the National Council on Aging)
- Health ministers and pastors from churches
- Public officials and local, county and state health departments
- Leaders of sororities, fraternities, and other service organizations
- Office managers of medical practices that serve a large number of adults ages 65 and over
- Physicians, optometrists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, and other health care providers
- Members of the media
What Can You Do?
There are a variety of ways you can help:
- Sign up to receive the MDSP Newsletter and stay informed
- Order free copies of MDSP materials and distribute them to older adults in your community; if you’d like, you can add your organization’s logo to MDSP materials
- Hold informational and educational sessions for older adults
- Incorporate MDSP messages and materials into your health ministry and outreach to members of your congregations
- Include MDSP information in your newsletters or email communications

What Tools and Resources Are Available?
If you are interested in helping promote MDSP messages, there are a variety of tools and information resources that you can use.
- Free materials for older adults are available in both English and Spanish. For health care providers and medical office managers, there is also information on how to code for the Medicare screening benefit. To learn more, click here to visit the “Tools and Resources” section of this Web site.
